A (sometimes) necessary evil encountered in search of results.

The things we do matter far less than their consequences. We seek results but merely tolerate the process necessary to achieve them.

Try thinking of this from an accounting point of view: process is expense; results are assets. We should minimize expenses in the production of assets.

So don't bother to ask my opinion of "process re-engineering"! See also my thoughts on data flow diagramming and why that technique is about data discovery, not process design.
