Remember the relationship line form has no meaning to the model.
You can intermingle diagonal, manually bent, and automatically elbowed relationships on the same model.
I strongly recommend avoiding elbows during the design phase. They impede the creative process and trhow in visual clutter.
If you or other consumers of the modellike them, add them later, when the design is quite stable. That is the time for polish and window dressing.
