Our favorite web reading on
information modeling:
Here is our suggested
reading list for those who want a solid foundation in
the theory and practice of relational database design:
- Codd's most recent manifesto of relational theory.
- Barker's excellent text on data modeling (based on
Oracle CASE)
- Hay's excellent studies of common data
structures
- Simsion's highly readable work on data modeling from
a practicing consultant
- Date and Darwen's comprehensive guide to the current SQL
standard
- Date's
classic text (updated) on relational database design
- Flemming and Von Halle's solid, though somewhat dated,
manual of good practices in database design
