To stay on the current of PowerDesigner, you should obtain the most recent release (V5.0 as of 01 Apr 1996) for your particular product. You should receive a new copy automatically if it is covered by your maintenance agreement.. Call your Powersoft sales rep for more information.
If you are installing or upgrading Version 5.0 AppModeler for PowerBuilder, we strongly recommend the following versions:
Be sure that you install the appropriate (Windows vs. NT) products. If you are running Windows 95 you can use either but all three products must match, i.e., all for NT or all for Windows.
PowerDesigner version 4.2.1 and prior was available in several editions which differed in their levels of technical sophistication and integration with PowerBuilder. Most or all editions were available for both Windows 3.1 and Windows NT/95. The product runs on no other platforms at this time.
The "Open" products generate 4GL specifications for a variety of target products via generic definition capabilities while "PowerBuilder" products are enhanced with closely coupled features which generate PowerBuilder code and windows.
Thus discussions in this document which relate to Conceptual or Physical modeling or to the Repository are equally applicable to all PowerDesigner editions which contain the respective feature sets. To determine which feature sets your installed editions includes, check its "Help About" for the specific version and edition, then reference the table above.
