This diagram shows how all entity-relationship data modeling is an attempt (albeit flawed) to map business issues and needs onto relational theory. The diagram helps explain some of the confusion over different terminology in different aspects of modeling, as well as revealing some of the concepts missing from most implementations (e.g., conceptual candidate keys).
