When
you start a new CDM in PowerDesigner with the "File/New"
option, a blank model is opened in a new window. The window contains a
floating toolbox which is initially positioned in the upper left corner.
(There is a very similar PDM tool box in the
physical model). You can hide|show this tool box with the F2 key
or from the "Window" menu.
We will discuss only the tools and features which are noteworthy or
not obvious. You will see that there are only three tools which are essential
to data modeling: ![]()
![]()

The other tool box icons provide either "window dressing" to enhance the diagram graphically or convenient shortcuts to functions which are also available from menus and/or function keys. See also Tool Box Drawing Icons and Tool Box Move Icons
